5 games in… Was I right or what?

We’re five games into the 2022-2023 Cyta Championship. I made some predictions on how the whole thing is supposed to finish. I have also been chucking in weekly predictions on the scores on the Twitters. So, how well am I doing?

Call me Nostradamus, ‘cos damn boiiiii

Spoilers: Not well.

You: Wait, why are there more words after this?

I wrote a thing here, with reasons behind my predictions. Needless to say, I need to get those reasons, scrunch them up, throw them in the bin, set fire to the bin, put the bin on a Falcon 9 rocket and launch the whole thing into the sun.

Other rockets are available

Nevertheless, for those not willing to read through a whole other article for understanding this one, here’s the breakdown:

  1. AEL

  2. Omonia

  3. APOEL

  4. Apollon

  5. AEK

  6. Pafos

  7. Anorthosis

  8. Aris

  9. Olympiakos

  10. Nea Salamina

  11. Doxa

  12. ENP

  13. Karmiotissa

  14. Akritas

What does the league look like after 5 games? Well, not like above that’s for sure. Instead, it looks like this:

We love Transfermarkt, don't we folks?

Of course the clown show for the first 4 games of the season at AEL has gone absolute nutter butters, although things look to have calmed down now, with the sacking of Silas and the hiring of a steady pair of hands instead means some kind of normalcy will be resumed.

Olympiakos in the first five games have played APOEL, AEL, Anorthosis and Aris. Nevertheless, the defeat against Karmiotissa will have stung.

Akritas so far have 4 points, however three of those were the shock win against Omonia, which gave us the constant comedy of Neil Lennon trying to pronounce the team name and failing. For some reason he thinks the team is named after the good guys in Dune?

In my review, I said that Aris, along with Anorthosis will be the teams to fall out of the top six come time for the league split. Aris sit top. Anorthosis are in 9th.

The up-tops at Anorthosis have decided to right the ship after 5 games and have got rid of the manager they hired in the summer already and replaced him with Xisco Munoz. Munoz is no stranger to soap operas, having already managed Watford for nine months.

Talking of sacked managers, so far the pile looks like this:

Silas (AEL)
Darko Milanic (Anorthosis)
Sofronis Avgousti (APOEL)
Dusan Uhrin Jr (Karmiotissa)
Alexander Zorniger (Apollon)

5 out of 14 teams. Imagine 35% of the teams changing their managers in the Premier League after 5 games.

And what of the matchday predictions? Well, if I had predicted every score 100% correct, the table would like this instead:

AEL, what are you doing to me? Imagine if I was a fan…

It looks like I need to apologise to Pafos’, Doxa’s and Akritas’ defences and yell at APOEL’s, Anorthosis’ and AEL’s attacks. Except for my hardheadedness to keep thinking AEL were about to turn a corner and instead they were slamming themselves into a brick wall, that’s not too bad. Doxa, Aris and Pafos really should be annoyed with me.

Care to respond for me Hedonismbot?
